Look 1 - Fitting for shopping and leisure

Max Mara’s silk shawl is the perfect neutral accessory to be worn with pop’s of color and as a neutral focal point. Ralph Lauren’s canvas trousers are a great staple and elevates the look vs. a traditional denim pair. Staples to add to your summer wardrobe, Leset’s white tee, a raffia clutch, and black and gold necklace, and Etsy earrings will serve you throughout the season. Pair the outfit with these shoes by Proenza Schouler. For an exact dupe, look no further than these by Marc Fisher. I’m also loving about the brown. For a more summery look, Tory Burch’s flower heels add an extra element to the outfit. For a more casual look, pair these chic shorts with a beaded-detailed bikini (+ bottoms) and sunglasses.

Look 2 - Vacation looks from day to night

A brown bodysuit paired with Zimmerman shorts and sandals (+ a sequin bag) will take you throughout the day, while this maxi skirt with an added pop of orange from the top are great for an evening event or a night out. Accessorize the outfit with heels (at a great price), earrings, and this book clutch I can’t get enough of. Bringing the same vibe to your swimwear is this bikini top and bottom and sunglasses.

Look 3 - Where beach meets resort

I had to include this matching tunic and skirt by Chan Luu as soon as I saw them featured. Pair it with either this beautiful eyelet bikini top and bottom, or if you prefer a one piece option, this option (left) or this one (right) are great. Complete the outfit with this fish necklace, bracelet, beaded necklace (look for less blue option here), earrings, and shell scarf/sarong. Lastly, pick your shoe of choice with heels or sandals.

Look 4 - Looking chic in the sun and out to dinner

There’s nothing I love more than a classic trouser and this pair by Andres Otalora checks all the boxes. Another favorite by the brand, this top is on trend with the detailing and color. Pair with Sunglasses, bangle bracelets, raffia bag or fish clutch, and heels. For your swim look, pick either a cream suit or chartreuse suit and finish with these precious shell sandals and sarong scarf.

Look 5 - Spice up your coastal looks

This dress on the left is one of my favorite finds of these season so far. At a better price point H&M’s and Mango’s takes give the same vibe at a lower price point. Add Khaite’s Mesh Flats (or this exact dupe!), these raffia wedges, or orange heels for a pop of color. Accessorize with a shell necklace or gold necklace and earrings.

Look 6 - Beachside elegance

La DoubleJ’s patterns are always eye-catching, this top included. Paired with buttery yellow pants, or a Sequin Top if you’re going for neutral but still fun, Earrings, Necklace, Raffia Heels, and clutch. For the beach or pool, choose this Simkhai One Piece, shirt but wear it as a coverup, woven sandals, and sunglasses. Not pictured but had to include: are these coral heels and other raffia mules.

Look 7 - Simplicity and comfort for seaside glamour

Julia Amory recently debuted this tuxedo shirtdress (left) and I quickly added to cart. Versatile for many seasons and settings, you can dress this piece up or down. If it sells out, be sure to check in-store! Add a belt if you choose, necklace, and sandal heels (dupe found here and here!). For a dressier evening look, a fringe caftan with these feminine earrings is an effortless pairing. Another shirt dress option on the right, this piece by Staud pairs well with this blue and green necklace, gold heels, and shell earrings. Add this zebra clutch to any of the three looks.

The feeling you get when you enter an impeccably designed room with eye-catching architectural and design elements is the same feeling I get when I put on a well-curated outfit. Much like interior design, apparel tells a story through texture, color, and silhouette, reflecting the personal style of each individual.

Some gravitate toward a more minimalistic style with neutral colors and clean lines, while others have the skill to mix a variety of patterns and colors while still achieving a coherent look. Often, when you enter someone’s home, you’ll see how their interior style mirrors their dressing style. In short, the process of designing a home is similar to sourcing and piecing together an outfit.

While working in the interior design field, I learned what it takes to create a cohesive and unique space that feels comfortable for each client. The process revealed that these are the same principles I use when putting together a look. Let’s explore the interior design process to understand how it parallels fashion and style curation.

Step 1: Define your personal style and determine direction

The first step in the interior design process is to decide whether you’ll design on your own or hire a designer whose style speaks to you. Either way, you must first outline your goals, budget, and the aesthetic you’re drawn to for your home. You’ll do the same when defining your personal style.

Step 2: Determine the feel of your home and lifestyle

Work with your designer to decide how you want to feel when you enter your home. Do you want it cozy and warm, clean and simple, or like a colorful oasis? Are you drawn to European architecture and molding or to sleek, modern lines? How can you ensure your home’s interior aligns with its exterior architecture and curb appeal?

Lastly, what purpose does your home serve? Is it an entertainment haven where you host friends and family? Do you have children that require more durable materials and larger furniture pieces?

Step 3: Find a piece to anchor each room

Is there a statement fabric you’re drawn to, a window that deserves the perfect draperies, a beautiful antique rug, a must-have furniture piece, or intricate French molding on the walls and ceiling? Start with that anchor piece to inspire the overall design.

Step 4: Source pieces that fit with the anchor

Now that you’ve chosen your anchor piece, use it as a guide when selecting accessories, staple furniture, and fabrics with the right patterns, textures, and durability. Consider the size of the room, the number of guests you plan to host, and which textures and patterns harmonize best.

Step 5: Finish off with accessories

Finally, complete the room with accessories that make it feel like home. I love antique boxes, timeless art, curated coffee table books, pillows, blankets, candles, and thoughtful lighting to create a cozy atmosphere.

Look 1 - Bar Madonna, Houston, TX

Reminiscent of Paris and one of my favorite places to visit, Bar Madonna features a show-stopping hand-painted royal blue ceiling adorned with gold stars, beautiful molding, an ornate fireplace, and French antiques.

The Look: Ready for an elegant affair and inspired by the golden and blue hues, these two black-tie options perfectly complement Bar Madonna’s design. The gold gown reflects the stars, gilded mirror molding, and tabletop lamps, while the navy gown mirrors the blue ceiling, lampshades, and drapery trim. Just as Bar Madonna’s walls are finished in pale blue, so is this look—with a light blue fur wrap. Lauren revitalized the space with vignettes that celebrate his various design worlds, creating a complete retail and lifestyle experience. The Look: Reflecting the store’s 1920s allure, the sequin bodysuit features intricate detailing and long sleeves with slits that move beautifully. For a dress alternative, the Emilia Wickstead masterpiece with floral embellishments is as eye-catching as Ralph Lauren’s crystal chandeliers, inspiring the earring and clutch choices. The Look: Upon first visiting The Marlene inn, what caught my eye was the zebra lumbar pillow paired with a blue velvet sofa. The sofa’s silhouette and luxurious texture exude both sophistication and softness, enhanced by deep red and yellow hues throughout the room. The outfit mirrors this blend with soft navy corduroys, a sophisticated silk blouse, a bold zebra jacket or coat, and golden accessories that match the inn’s hardware and wall tones. Finish with green heels, inspired by the green lampshades and plants, and let the chandelier and sconces inspire the earrings and loafers.

Look 4 - The Carnegie Club, New York, NY

Known for its pops of red and 18th-century Gothic library aesthetic, the Carnegie Club—near Carnegie Hall—features portraits of presidents and notable figures adorning its walls. Though I’m not typically a cigar bar regular, the club’s Sinatra Saturdays are among my favorite events. If you’re like me and wish you lived in the Sinatra era, you can’t miss it.

The Look: Using red as the focal point to reflect the Carnegie Club’s striped walls and carpet, the pairing of velvet and silk creates a chic yet comfortable ensemble. A timeless fur-collared coat is perfect for New York winters. Black suede sock boots offer just the right height and ankle coverage, while a suede bag with jeweled accents and simple diamond earrings complete the look.

Look 5 - High Hampton, Cashiers, NC

One of my favorite retreats, High Hampton calls the mountains of North Carolina home (as do I). First opened to guests in 1922, the mountain escape has been restored to glory. Its architecture and design elements, with its plaid textiles and rich wood details, evoke comfort and relaxation both indoors and outdoors.

The Look: Inspired by High Hampton’s Tavern, the plaid banquette serves as the outfit’s muse. The jacket takes center stage, layered over a 100% wool cream sweater featuring a built-in scarf for extra warmth and style. No need to add a scarf too, the sweater already includes one and it can be styled to be seen under the jacket. Olive accessories echo the tavern’s chairs, while velvet jeans and wooden earrings tie back to the High Hampton’s natural aesthetic.

• Scarf Sweater: Massimo Dutti scores again. Never purchased a sweater so fast. Cream, draped scarf, wool.

• Velvet Pants: A Citizens of Humanity favorite. For a more straight leg instead of wide-leg, choose these.

Look 6 - Chiltern Firehouse, London, England

London’s Chiltern Firehouse is cozy, warm, and inviting—perfect for a meal or afternoon tea. Although the beloved spot suffered a fire last winter, be sure to visit once it reopens.

The Look: Chiltern Firehouse’s floral upholstery in hues of yellow, teal, and green—and its richly patterned rug—are amplified by vines and greenery throughout the space. This look echoes those tones with mustard-yellow trousers, a teal strapless satin top, teal heels, and a jacquard bag by Dries Van Noten.

• Trousers: Appropriately named “Spice,” these tweed-inspired pants capture Chiltern’s warmth.

• Satin Top: A structured, eye-catching neckline—worth the investment.

• Heels: A sleek and hue-appropriate shoe for day and night.

The end of the year is creeping up on us, with Christmas decorations being put up in windows and street displays and holiday dressing in full swing in the shops. Before we get too ahead of ourselves for and have our eye on December (even though I can’t wait!), let’s first focus on the next step: November and Thanksgiving. Even if you live or are traveling somewhere where the weather is still defying the season, it’s likely your outfit will still reflect the month we’re in. November is reminiscent of the autumnal tones - think burnt orange, rich browns, tasteful yellows, and eye-catching jewel tones. I’ve enjoyed playing with textures this season, from velvet, leather, and suede, to crocodile, beads, and satin.

In this November Lookbook, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite pieces and outfits to carry you through the month in style — from casual travel days and cozy weekends at home to polished looks for family dinners and festive get-togethers. However you’re spending November, these looks are all about embracing the warmth and comfort of the season before the holiday rush begins.

• Satin Cape Top: a beautiful satin cape top - too tempting but here’s look for less

• Double-Breasted Coat: the pointed scarf detail is too good (look for less)

• Straight-Leg Denim: Was on the look for the perfect dark wash straight jeans and these fit the bill + are the most comfortable denim I own. Order a size up for extra room or your true size for a more fitted feel (they stretch)

• Vintage Clutch: I’ve been hunting for and incorporating more vintage pieces, and this is one of my favorites - a beautiful faux tortoise clutch from the 1940s

All my friends know that my ultimate wardrobe staple is the white button-down. There’s just something about its quiet confidence — the way it exudes class, simplicity, and effortless polish all at once. It’s the piece that can go from the workplace to a beach walk, from crisp tailoring to casual weekend layers. You’ll find it gracing runways season after season and hanging on racks in every store, no matter the price point.

But what’s fascinating is how this humble shirt evolved from being a men’s-only garment to a universal icon of style. Until the 1920s, the white button-down belonged strictly to men’s wardrobes, symbolizing formality and discipline. Then came a new wave of female designers who began reimagining it — cutting, softening, and reshaping it for women who wanted both comfort and authority in their clothes. The shirt became a statement of independence as much as elegance.

From there, the white button-down cemented its place in fashion history. It appeared in films and magazines, and became the signature of timeless style icons — think Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, Princess Diana, and Audrey Hepburn. Each of them showed that the simplest piece in the closet could be the most impressive.

Fun fact: we often call it a “white button-down,” but technically, a button-down is a shirt with collars that fasten to the body of the shirt. The classic we’re usually referring to is actually a “button-up.” Still, over the decades, the white button-down has evolved through endless interpretations — oversized, cropped, sheer, structured — and yet, it remains the same at its core: timeless, versatile, and classy.

Tailored

• Named after Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy herself, my go-to button down is the Carolyn Shirt by Julia Amory. It’s the perfect mix between tailored and oversized depending on if you take your normal size or go up one, and can be dressed up or down with ease. One tip: be sure you have a good iron as this will need it after washing.

• SIMONMILLER’s take on the white top comes in at the waist in the same figure, but this time using a tie in the back rather than buttons. Leaving you with an open back, this top has a playful twist, while also allowing you to adjust how fitted you prefer it to fit. Pair it with a print or pop of color and ground it with complementary neutral accessories, simple earrings, and a bracelet bundle that takes out the guesswork.

There’s something about western style that never really goes out of fashion—especially here in Texas. The worn-in denim, the smell of leather, and the way a good pair of boots feel never gets old. While these aspects have always been part of life here, those outside of Texas and the greater west are now catching on, and what once seemed out of touch for the rest of the population is now at the height of style. Typically the monopoly of Ralph Lauren, many brands are bringing forward these designs to dominate the 2025 scene.

We’re seeing buttery suede jackets, an abundance of denim, statement belt buckles, fringe details, and boots in every shape and shade making their way into everyday outfits. Western wear isn’t just for rodeos anymore—it’s showing up at weddings, on game days, and in looks that can take you from day to night.

With these looks, you’ll encapsulate the western mode and be able to head West without having to book a flight—just put on the right boots and you’re already there.

Beginning with my favorite look, I am drawn to the contrast between the bright blue and rich burgundy. These tones together make the outfit stand out but not too much to where it couldn’t be worn to any event, day or night. The beaded clutch ties the look together, or for a more subtle choice, choose YSL’s leather pouch. This look is an example of this, and is one that can be worn to events throughout the day, for a day of exploring while traveling, or out to dinner or drinks in the evening. It’s no secret my favorite color to wear daily is a rich chocolate brown, and this look perfects the monochromatic moment. Each step of our days brings us closer to fulfilling our purpose - whether that is to love our people well, make strides in our careers, or achieve a goal that once seemed too far a reach. As we take these steps, some that make us have a spring in our step while others feel heavier, we may as well be doing so with the right accessories that elevate our outfits and our moods.

I’ll admit that I am loving some of the shoe trends this year, especially the ballet flats, loafers, and slingbacks, all in suede and tonal browns or prints. Although these styles are not new on the scene, they feel refreshed this season with new textures and altered silhouettes. Here are some of the best:

You’ve probably already seen these slides by Gucci and leopard flats by Prada, but these other selections are just as chic. For a pointed toe, I’m loving these cream and black pairs from Zara or Schutz’s burgundy version with the most gorgeous heel. If you’re willing to make more of an investment, try these strappy flats by Vince with gold detailing, these leopard slingbacks by Alexandre Birman, or these gorgeous mules by Simkhai. Despite fall hardly existing in Houston, I can’t help but browse the new arrivals and brainstorm about how to incorporate them into my wardrobe even in the prolonged heat. Here are five basics I’ve purchased that will help me pretend it isn’t still in the 90s and are designed to be layered, mixed and matched in perpetuity.

1. A Straightforward Base.

   It can’t be understated that a perfect pair of denim makes or breaks an outfit. If you’re in need of a refresh, try styling these muted light gray Agolde wide-leg jeans in your rotation.
